Job Function: Build & Release Engineer
Skills/Experience:
- 1-3 years of experience.
- Expertise in Python and Shell. Hands on experience is a must.
- Expertise in Git, Gerrit & Repo. Hands on experience is a must.
- Good knowledge in Electric Commander or Jenkins.
- Good knowledge in SCM principles.
- Strong hands on experience in build automation and scripting.
- Experience in build optimizations and release activities.
- Experience working in Linux/Unix environment.
- Experience in writing make files will be a bonus.
Responsibilities:
- Candidate is responsible for build and release activities. This includes delivery of internal, external and patch builds.
- Sanity/Smoke testing the builds before delivering it to customer.
- Candidate should quickly identify and eliminate manual, repetitive tasks through automation.
- Generate and provide reports to management/stake holders.
- Ability to mentor folks and ramp them up quickly on new tasks.
- Ability to design, develop and deploy tasks independently
- Work independently with little supervision.
- Engage with multiple teams(Dev/QA/CE) and manage their daily build/automation requirements.
- Use verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
- Have a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
- Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is generally required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.
- Exercise substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.
- Use deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.
- Occasionally participate in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
- Display deep knowledge in a specific area; share knowledge with others on team and help less experienced engineers understand and apply advanced concepts.
